Jeremy Renner’s injuries ‘worse than anyone knows’ after snow plough accident

‘Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there.’

Jeremys condition is “much worse than anyone knows” after his accident, friends of the actor have revealed.

The 51-year-old Avengers star was crushed by a snow plough at his home in Nevada on New Year’s Day.

He has been in hospital ever since, in a critical but stable condition after surgery.

After the accident it was revealed that Renner had suffered blunt chest trauma and leg injuries.

A day after the accident, he wrote a message to fans on Instagram thanking them for their concern.

“Thank you all for your kind words,” he wrote.

“I’m too messed up to type. But I send love to you all.”

Renner’s mother Cearley and his sister Kym have been by his side since the accident.

In the days following, the Mayor of Kingstown actor posted footage of his sister giving him a head massage while he looked bruises and groggy.

Now, friends close to the actor have told Radar Online how he is facing a long road to recovery - a matter of years rather than months.

“It’s much worse than anyone knows. Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there,” a source told the outlet.

“The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed.

“He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”

The friend said Renner lost a lot of blood as he waited for help and had to be airlifted to hospital because of heavy snow conditions.

“Jeremy was in a lot of pain, and was having difficulty breathing,” the friend revealed.

Another source told the outlet that he remained conscious and “knew he was in bad shape and that he might not make it out of this.”

“Word is the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so substantial it had to be reconstructed in surgery,” the source revealed.

It’s believed it could be up to two years before the actor is fully recovered.

“So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg,” the source said.

“Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.”

A friend said Renner was still “pretty doped up.”

“He’s got tubes to help him breathe,” the source said.
